Navy Builds Houses for Displaced Families at Mullikulum
The 01st phase of the housing project for displaced families at Mullikulum was ceremonially launched by Commander North-western Naval Area Rear Admiral PADR Perera on 25th July 2012 with the religious blessings of Buddhist and Catholic faith.
The project is being implemented on a concept of Secretary of Defence and the direction of Commander of the Navy to provide permanent settlements for the families displaced due to the terrorist war.
Plans are underway to build 60 houses in Mullikulum under the project. The Navy also provides assistance to the resettled families to start their livelihoods in fisheries and agricultural sectors with a view to uplift their living conditions.
