Dr. Manmohan Singh wants Sri Lanka to devolve power to the Tamils. Ha!

OPEN LETTER TO  INDIA’s PRIME MINISTER MANMOHAN SINGH sent by FAX
Honourable Dr. Manmohan Singh
Prime Minister of India
South Block, Raisina Hall, New Delhi, India, 110011

Dear Prime Minister:
You almost made me scream at you saying, “Come…on…Manmohan…stop being a Goddam joker” when I read the news item in Sri Lanka’s The Island of September 22, 2012, which said that you had asked the visiting President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka “… raised the issue of devolution of power in order to allow the Tamil population to look forward to a future where they can live in dignity and respect.”   That is a bit high and mighty on your part isn’t it Manmohan?

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that there was no need to devolve power for the Tamils to live in dignity and respect as 41% of the population of the capital Colombo are peopled by the Tamils who live with dignity and respect, not in papered adobe shacks with cow-pad rubbed floors,  but in two storey houses in the rich suburbs of Colombo with polished  brass door knobs that shine towards heaven;

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that there is no reason to devolve power to the Tamils as they live in dignity and respect anyway driving BMWs and not travelling in bullocks pulled rickety carts;

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that there was no reason to devolve power to the Tamils as they already live in dignity and respect when their children attend private International Schools and not being waifs like the Slum-Dog Indian children not attending school and their play grounds happen to be mountains of home-waste;

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that there was no need to devolve power to the Tamils as they already live in dignity and respect  even in rural Jaffna using flushing toilets not like in India where the Indian railway is really the world’s biggest open toilet as mentioned by your own Jairam Ramesh, the Minister of Rural Development;

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that his 21 million people enjoy privacy when using their toilets while 625 million Indians in your vast country, according to the World Health Organization use open areas being the only toilet options, and  as such there was no need to devolve power to the Tamils to live in dignity and respect;

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that he doesn’t feel ashamed as you may do, as in your case around 1.3 million people, mostly members of the predominantly low-caste Dailit community are involved in clearing human waste in areas where there is no modern sewage system, and his citizens don’t, and thus there was no need to devolve power unnecessarily to the Tamils for them to live in dignity and respect as they enjoy it already;

Didn’t President Rajapaksa tell you that devolving power to the Tamils in Sri Lanka where there is religious freedom, will not help the low-caste Tamils enter Hindu Kovils to worship as the old pot bellied Brahmin Tamils with three horizontal strokes of ash on their foreheads will  not let these  low-caste Tamils enter their Hindu Kovils for worship.  That’s how the cooky crumbles in that part of our world;

So let’s cut out this crap of asking President Rajapaksa to devolve power to the Tamils in the North so that they can live in  dignity and respect.

Do you know something Manmohan Singh, I bet my last paisa that every member of the 1.3 million low caste Dalit community would move heaven and earth to exchange places with the whining Sri Lankan Northern Tamils who think that they are being denied to live with respect and dignity in Sri Lanka.  They don’t know how blessed they are.  Poor buggers! They are a bunch of crummy, Tamil politician swayed dreamers.

So Manmohan Singh, let’s cut out that sordid crap of yours.   Devolve powers to the Tamils in the North, Ha! My foot.    I know where you are coming from with the Indian Monroe Doctrine still at play. You are no friendly neighbour of Sri Lanka anyway.  Remember your country vote in March in Geneva, don’t you?  That was rough, sordid and ugly.  And you thought that you would be the first turban headed Pied Piper and expected other Asian nations to fall behind you, didn’t you Manmohan to vote for that US resolution to hang Sri Lanka from the UN’s wall?  And I am happy that you were taught a solid lesson in Asian solidarity.  As my mother always told me, “Son, it’s never too late to learn!”

Sincerely
Asoka Weerasinghe
